I have been fortunate to have many opportunities in life and I tried to take advantage of everything that came my way. Through the years, though, regardless of whatever else I might have been involved in, there has always been one constant – I was always writing something.

I have operated several businesses, including being a partner in a professional recording studio, which was quite a hoot! I have a Masters Degree in business and taught at a community college. I was a real estate agent, and taught a real estate pre-license course on television, training more than 700 real estate agents – something I will undoubtedly have to answer for on Judgment Day.

After having a dozen books published, I thought it would be fun to present writer's seminars for budding authors. And, it was. I developed three different writer's seminars and was one of America's most active writer's seminar presenters for many years, having presented over 625 one-day seminars in a 15-state area from Minnesota to Tennessee and Colorado to Illinois. My wife traveled with me and sold writer's reference books during breaks. We had a ball – we were like a rock band out on tour, except we couldn't sing.

Speaking of Rock 'N' Roll, I have been inducted into the Iowa Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the South Dakota Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. On the cover of my novel, Okoboji, if you look closely, you will see that one of the boats is named after my credo, “Still Rockin'. Another boat is named, “Bebs,” which is what my wife's father called her – that scored a few points. I have written songs for many years and the highlight of my song-writing career (hobby, actually) is that one of them was used in a television series in the Netherlands. Another highlight was tuning in the radio to see if they were playing my song – and they were. Driving down the highway, all alone, singing along as loud as I could was a blast. I knew all the words.

I am an avid football and basketball fan and consider March Madness to be the greatest sporting event of the year.

I have received several national awards, including the prestigious Leavey Award, granted by Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge, Valley Forge, Pennsylvania

My wife and I spend the summer months in the beautiful Lake Okoboji resort area of Iowa . We spend our winter months at our home on Laughlin Ranch Golf Course in Bullhead City, Arizona, which is directly across the Colorado River from Laughlin, Nevada and 90 miles south of Las Vegas. We would be hard pressed to decide which place we like best.
As for the future – my goal is to continue writing books. Literary agent, Elizabeth Kracht, is representing my recently-finished manuscript. I am confident that she will get it placed with a publisher and that there will be more books to follow. As I said in the beginning, writing has been my lifelong passion, so why stop now!
